Unfortunately, this is yet another example of why campus judicial processes do not always equal justice. There are many tales like this where administrators have bungled investigations and/or rushed to judgements rather than involving law enforcement professionals (with the possibility that bad news on campus could actually reach the media). When these cases are looked at in retrospect (like this one), one sees that there are many administrative, PR and financial pressures that often become more important than the facts of the cases themselves.
