Why do we write?

Writing that comes from within is just as wonderful for the writer as it is for the reader. Our subconscious holds so many truths and values and most can be unleashed with little or no conscious effort.

Would you write a book even if you didn’t make money?

Some of us love the art of writing regardless of a profit or recognition. I use the word art because what some of us do is an expression and not a task. We write because it is what we love to do. Writing is an expression from deep within and for many it is not mechanical, but creative.

I have written many books, some poetry, hundreds of posts and thousands of emails and I usually can’t wait to get back to my love of writing when some duty or chore takes me away. I was so surprised to find that my first novel was difficult to start but even more difficult to stop. Once I got going, it was downhill all the way. What impressed me most was the fact that I had no plan or idea about what I was going to write and it was very difficult to get started because I was consciously making an effort to write what I thought people might want to read. Little by little I let go and let my subconscious do the work and with each page I became enthralled with the plot, characters, outcomes, relationships and problems solved. I did none of these purposefully, but naturally from deep reserves within my subconscious. All my life I have been studying, reading, taking exams and enjoying conversations, all of which stored data somewhere outside of my conscious person. When I finally learned to let go, this information was put into a story for my pleasure.

I cannot say my work is good, interesting or any other salable suggestive idea. I would say that I enjoyed writing it and more so, reading it after it was written. When I write without effort, there are hundreds of mistakes, but all of these can be corrected. These corrections are not made for me, but for you the reader.

In the very beginning, before my first book was published, I thought I wanted to leave some of myself for my children and friends. That is still true, but during the course of that first book, as it developed, I found that I would rather write a story than watch television or go to a movie. I do both of the latter, but only for relaxation and diversion. My enjoyment comes from writing. I have talked to many authors who have come to the same conclusion. With six million authors contributing to Amazon it is obvious that most of us are not going to be best sellers or even in the top one-hundred, but it is possible for every book to be a success in the mind of the author, and even in the face of competition so fierce that the author does not sell enough books to cover the cost of creating them.

I would encourage anyone with an interest to give writing a try. Let your creative juices take you to a world that can offer so much more than you might believe possible. I have never been happier than I am with this choice. I do what I do without effort, strife or discord as everything seems to fall in place with a purpose.

Give it a try, don’t force it, and don’t coerce others to agree with what you write, just write and let it go, just like I am doing with this piece right now.

We are all different with a different view of life. It begins with birth and ends when the life force leaves the body. It might be easier to see an analogy to something more common. Learning to make corrections throughout life is very important.

Choosing to eat either of these may be the last choice you will ever make. These plants are found on my property and can be dangerous to your health.

We have analogized life with other experiences and in this case I will compare the flight of an airplane with life.

The first is the child stage (or takeoff)

To get an airplane off the ground one must have a clear area, a lot of thrust and the right direction. Accounting must be made for a rough runway, type of runway, wind direction and gusts, fuel, and air worthiness of the craft and of course the pilot. The most dangerous time of any normal flight is during takeoff. There are people such as ground support and tower control to advise you and assist you with your journey. Climbing up to the proper altitude takes a strong engine without faults and a competent pilot who understands the change in the affects from the wind which are different in the air than when the craft is on the ground. One: gusts on the ground are more immediately dangerous and two: up in the air the wind can cause a gradual drift off course, which may not be recognized by an inexperienced pilot until it’s too late. Don’t let your life get off course. It may be hard to recover. The manufacturer of the airplane and the creator of our life have a lot in common. Both have designed a craft suitable for varying circumstance, but one that requires a pilot to follow the instructions of the provider. Speed, quality of fuel, roughness, horseplay, excess in all areas, both on the ground and in the air must be kept in mind at all times. There are the timely and regular maintenance schedules that must be followed for a person to have a clean flight through life and a plane through the air.

Your life is as good as you make it.

Our attitude is so important throughout life. What we feel, think, and do is affected by our way of looking at our surroundings. We all could use a hand up from time to time, but the important thing is for us to use our hands to pull ourselves up.

When I first saw this land it was strewn with fallen trees, gullys and swamp. No one wanted it and it was offered at a very reasonalble price.

Instead of a desolate swamp. I saw a beautiful paradise. It would just take a little work. I also saw a lot of good trees that needed to be thinned, cut into boards and made into a house and furniture.

The first thing was to buy a tractor big enough to move the dirt out of a low place into a high place. The low place would become a lake and the high place would become the spot where I would build our house.

The swamp looked a lot better after a couple of years of hard work. The lake was stocked with 100 catfish and 60 large mouth bass. Since then many different kinds of fish have developed and it has been said that birds drop fish eggs when they come to go fishing. This was at one time the heart of the swamp. Boys love to come and fish.
