See How Far We Have Come by Watching Old Tech Commercials

This is a great compilation of vintage tech commercials to remind all of us - especially today's "yutes" - just how far we have come. In this clip, see the ads for IBM's first personal computer (at $20,000), Radio Shack's first cell phone ($1400 with 60 cent a minute calls), and a Mircosoft ad for what came before Windows (MS-DOS). Classic stuff from Kim Komando - watch the clip below:

The End Of The Free Market: Why America Must Defend The Free Market Economy (VIDEO)

This is a logo for The Daily Show. Used as par...Image via Wikipedia

Kudos again to Jon Stewart and "The Daily Show" crew for putting on an author interview that presents a far-better, far more serious and important analysis of our present economic and political situation than the "serious" news that dominates cable and broadcast news programs. Ian Bremmer appears to have great insights on the global context of not just the crisis for the U.S., but for all democratic states based on free-market economies. Ironic (and somewhat scary) how "fake news" is better than "real news," eh? Will look for his book - and would urge all to - great interview!

Jonathan Rhys Meyers BANNED From United Airlines Flights

Image representing Huffington Post as depicted...Image via CrunchBase

Being banned from United, well one can certainly come up with other equally torturous things - like being banned from McDonalds, from the Hospital, or from the line outside the BestBuy at 3 a.m. on Black Friday. I'm sure he will just take his Black Amex Card and spend his big movie bucks with American or Delta (that's all fine till we end-up with one mega, Aeroflot-style airline!).

BTW - kudos to the Huffington Post folks for including a picture of the actor with a Grey Goose bottle over his shoulder - nice, ironic touch for a story like this!

Great Analysis of Both the Greek Debt Crisis and the Gulf Oil Spill, All Tied Together by Steve Czaban

Kudos to Steve Czaban and his radio (well, Internet-only for now) crew to really put together a cutting-edge - and funny - analysis of the Euro currency crisis (thanks, Greece!) and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (thanks, BP!). Really good clip to watch:

Enjoy - and let's hope for the best for all of us!

College For All? Experts Say Not Necessarily

Bad news for those of us who draw our paychecks in higher education. But, it is simply a matter of not being in tune with changing market realities. If you can deliver a product - in this case a student who graduates with a degree - and skills and knowledge - that are in demand, he or she will be successfully. Too much emphasis on what's going on inside the walls of the institution and not enough attention to the changing marketplace - of ideas and of economics - have brought us to this point. All the talk about 3-year degree programs today is just a band-aid approach to handling the bigger issues involved.
